How to make a warranty claim

  1. Get in touch first. Call us on 02 9413 3166 or email info@eastcoastspares.com.au with your order number, the part, and what's gone wrong. Please don't remove or return a part before speaking with us.
  2. Have your proof of purchase ready. Your order confirmation email or receipt works.
  3. Return the part. We'll tell you how to get it back to us, either dropped in to our Chatswood store or sent by post.
  4. We assess it with the manufacturer. Most claims are assessed by the manufacturer, who decides whether the fault is covered. We'll keep you updated and let you know the outcome, usually within
  5. The outcome. If the claim is approved, the part is repaired, replaced or refunded, depending on the manufacturer's terms and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

What's usually covered

Manufacturer warranties cover defects in materials or manufacturing: a part that fails because of how it was made, within the warranty period, when it's been fitted and used correctly.

What's usually not covered

  • Normal wear and tear, such as brake pads and clutch plates wearing with use
  • Damage from incorrect fitting, or fitting to a vehicle the part doesn't suit
  • Misuse, accident damage or modification of the part
  • Motorsport, racing or off road competition use, unless the part is made for it
  • Damage caused by other worn or faulty parts, for example a new clutch damaged by a worn flywheel
  • Labour, towing and other costs of removing or refitting the part [Ben: confirm, varies by brand]

Each brand's full terms apply, and they're available from the manufacturer or from us on request.

Getting it fitted properly

Some manufacturers require certain parts, like clutches and brake components, to be fitted by a qualified mechanic for the warranty to apply. Keep your fitting invoice with your receipt. If you'd like us to do it, our Fitting Service is run by Chatswood Brake and Clutch, our workshop.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Manufacturer warranties are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, not instead of them.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

This is the standard statement required under the Australian Consumer Law, so it's used word for word. For returns that aren't warranty claims, such as a change of mind or ordering the wrong part, see our Refund Policy.
