About Safety Equipment

Fire safety gear only helps if it's in the vehicle and easy to reach. Our range from FIREBOX includes fire extinguishers, mounting brackets to keep them secure while you drive, and fire blankets.

A bracket keeps your extinguisher from rolling around the cabin or tray and puts it where you can grab it quickly. If you're not sure which size suits your car, ute or camper, give us a call on 02 9413 3166.

Safety Equipment FAQs

Should I carry a fire extinguisher in my car?

It's a good idea, especially for touring, towing and remote travel. Choose one suitable for vehicle fires, mount it securely within easy reach, and check its gauge regularly.

Where should I mount a fire extinguisher in a car?

Mount it securely with a proper bracket where you can reach it quickly, such as near the driver's seat or in the front of the cargo area. An unsecured extinguisher can become a hazard in a crash.

What should a 4WD first aid kit include?

A remote area kit should go beyond the basics, with items for bleeding, burns, sprains, snake bite bandages and enough supplies for your group size. A first aid course is just as important as the kit.

How often should safety equipment be checked?

Check extinguisher gauges and first aid supplies before every big trip, and replace anything expired or used. Follow the extinguisher maker's guidance on servicing.

What safety gear should I carry when touring?

At a minimum, carry a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, a way to call for help such as a UHF radio or satellite device, plenty of water, and recovery gear.
