About Transmission Filters

An automatic transmission filter keeps debris out of the transmission fluid as it circulates. Replacing it during a transmission service helps protect the internals and keep gear changes smooth.

Our range includes transmission filters and filter kits from Sakura. Check the part details on each listing, or call us on 02 9413 3166 and we'll help you confirm the right filter for your vehicle.

Transmission Filters FAQs

How often should transmission fluid and filter be changed?

It depends on the vehicle. Some manufacturers list a service interval, while others call the fluid lifetime fill. Towing, heavy loads and hot conditions are good reasons to service it more often.

What does a transmission filter do?

An automatic transmission filter traps particles in the transmission fluid, protecting the valve body and internal parts. It's usually changed during a transmission service.

Do I need to change the fluid when I change the filter?

Yes. Replacing the filter means removing the pan or housing, so fresh fluid of the correct specification goes back in at the same time.

What transmission fluid does my car need?

Use the fluid your vehicle's manufacturer specifies. Automatic transmissions are sensitive to fluid type, and the wrong one can affect shifting. Check your owner's manual or give us a call.

What are the signs my transmission needs a service?

Common signs include harsh or delayed shifts, slipping, a burnt smell from the fluid, or dark fluid. Have it checked by a professional if you notice any of these.
