About Spigot Bearings

A spigot bearing, also called a pilot bearing, sits in the centre of the flywheel or crankshaft and supports the tip of the gearbox input shaft. It lets the input shaft spin at a different speed to the engine while the clutch pedal is down.

A worn spigot bearing can cause a whine or grinding noise when you press the clutch. They're usually replaced with the clutch, and many clutch kits include one, so check your kit's listing first.
