Wash and Exterior Cleaning FAQs

How do I wash a car properly?

Rinse off loose dirt, wash from the top down with a car wash and a clean mitt, using a second bucket to rinse the mitt. Clean the wheels separately, rinse thoroughly and dry with a microfibre towel to avoid water spots.

Should I wash my car in the sun?

It's best to wash in the shade or when the paint is cool. In direct sun, soap and water dry too quickly and can leave spots and streaks.

How do I clean car windows without streaks?

Use a dedicated glass cleaner and two clean microfibre cloths, one to clean and one to buff dry. Clean the inside and outside in different directions so you can tell which side any streaks are on.

How do I clean brake dust off my wheels?

Use a wheel cleaner that suits your wheel finish, a soft wheel brush, and rinse well. Clean the wheels when they're cool, and use a separate mitt or brush so brake dust doesn't scratch the paint.

How do I remove bugs and tar from my car?

Use a dedicated bug and tar remover, let it soak for the time recommended, then wipe gently and wash the area. Don't scrub hard, as it can scratch the paint.
